Well, we thought after a 70 degree Christmas we were going to skip Winter this year... boy were we
wrong.. 40 inches of snow later - I'm pretty sure we have enough snow to last us the rest of the season. This isn't the end of this type of weather, February is our coldest month and we're suppose to be getting hit again by another snow storm, possibly.. is it spring yet? I love the snow but that was a bit over board for me.. the girls couldn't even play in it until JD shoveled a spot for them to be able to move around in..
craziness. That Friday is when it was heading this way, and of course last minute I decided I needed to make a Starbucks run.. nope, that didn't happen. I didn't even make it to the door & JD said "here it comes, you're not driving.. get the girls ready" and out we went. He is
brave.. I do not drive in that kind of weather, he loves driving in the snow.. until it turns to a Blizzard, that's a different story.. or if you can't get your car out of the driveway from so much snow.. which is exactly what happened. Our trip to Starbucks was short lived, we made it all the way there before it got bad just to find out they closed early due to the storm coming.. womp.. just my luck, so we headed home which only felt like hours when it was only a 15 minute drive.. the snow began to stick fast which meant other drivers were in panic mode.. we passed a jeep already off the side of the interstate. Once we made it home, we were in for good for at least the next 4 days.. or at least me and the girls were stuck for 4.. he had no choice but to get himself out of this driveway come Sunday because he had already called off Friday and Saturday.. being snowed in calls for crock pot soup, late night movies for Mommy & Daddy, & some snow ice cream for all 4 of us.. We got between 1 & 3 inches of snow an hour from what the meteorologist had to say, & I'm pretty sure for at least 3 days straight the Weather Channel was all that was watched on our TV.. JD is a bit obsessed with the weather & snow.. He should have been a Meteorologist.. for sure. We brought both dogs in, Sarge has always been an inside/outside dog so he was ok in the house.. however, Buster was a different story and that became quite the nightmare after day 3.. we kept him in his cage in the garage and just let him in and out on a leash.. he's way too hyper to come in and has always been strictly an outside dog, so he was ready to go back out on day 4.. not to mention, his dog house was built by my grandfather, it even has a window in it.. talk about some spoiled dogs. He's got it made.. Thankfully, the snow is suppose to melt this weekend, although we will be getting hit again in the next month.. I'm so ready for tank-tops, shorts, & flip flops.
& it begins.. They were ready for it as soon as it started.
First 2016 snow picture
Night 1.
Crock pot loaded potato soup for dinner
Day 2.
Total white out.
JD shoveled a path for the girls.. must have been cool to have snow on the ground taller than you..
It was a great idea to make my way out to the middle of the yard for a picture, until I fell down trying to get back out & a ton of snow went down my pants.. nope, no thanks.
If we didn't bring Buster in, he would have been snowed in his own house.. lol
Best thing about being snowed in, it was with my best friend.
Night 2.
Trying to plow his own way out for work the next night.. He did not succeed..
Meanwhile, the girls & I made snow cream.. Kylee's exact words were "ew" until I promised her it was good snow, & not yucky snow..
Story time.
Day 3.
My grandfather aka Paw Paw saved the day when he came to plow us out..
The girls enjoyed yelling "Paw Paw" from the window as he plowed the drive way.
Thankfully, JD was able to get to work on Sunday which meant it was just the girls and I snowed in for the rest of the night until the next evening when he was off work again, & we were able to escape... I was beginning to get cabin fever, and although we were still under a state of emergency.. I trusted his word on the roads & his driving.. I needed out of this house so we went to Target for a few things and of course that's where Starbucks is.
Day 4.
the day we ventured out and about.. this was our road.
Target, Starbucks, & Pizza Oven.. all I saw it as was FREEDOM.
Kaylee: "Mommy, take a pitchhhaa"
sure thing, girlfriend!
So, later that evening.. this happened. 40 inches of snow on the ground + 30 degrees, but the wind stopped blowing & it didn't even feel the slightest bit cold.. I took advantage of it when I had to run to the car for something.
T-shirt, shorts, & boots..
New Trend? Possibly.
Very dangerous, but very pretty.. in my opinion, anyway.
Later that night, our best friends - Baylee & Tyler escaped the storm by coming over for a while.. & the girls were so excited to see them.
It was a great snowed in weekend... too bad it had to end.
Here's to another weekend, but without a blizzard.
Happy Saturday!
