It's Fall, Y'all!

Finally, it's here - Boot Season!! Although, today we ended up going to get new pumpkins in our shorts, short sleeves, flip flops with our hair up in a bun.

Welcome to Wild & Wonderful West Virginia weather!

Yes, it is 80 degree weather while picking out pumpkins to decorate with so summer wear it is...until next week that is, no doubt. This is when the sickness starts, and I am not ready for that so I wish it would just get cool and stay cool. So, we gathered up all of our pumpkins, the girls even got a sucker out of the deal from the nice lady before leaving, and then we headed home to decorate our porch for my favorite season, ever. FALL! The time of year for carving pumpkins, Halloween movies aka The Great Pumpkin, Pumpkin patches, & Haunted Houses/Fields, Pumpkin Spice EVERYTHING!

Our Home is all ready for Fall, now we just need the weather to be ready too.

Happy Fall, Y'all!

Part 26 in the life of Kylee & Kaylee

being T W O

The changes that have taken this month have been so much fun yet so challenging. The life of two year olds, let me tell ya.. it's not all sunshine & rainbows. Temper tantrums, attitudes to the max, the sass is at a all time high right now - Patience is what their daddy and I have been taught in the last month with these two babes. There are some days when the thought crosses my mind to just walk away like I don't know them while they are rolling around on the floor in anger or throwing a fit in the middle of Target.
There are some days when the only thing to solve their little toddler problems is to just turn on the TV & give them some gummies because there is nothing else to do but sob our toddler head off.
The frustration with two year olds is real.
Along with the word NO.  No to everything is Kylee's way of thinking.

sleep
This month we dealt with the start of sickness that comes with the season change and sleepless nights.. I am so thankful for their daddy who is willing to get up with them on his days off when they wouldn't go to bed until 2 and wake up at 9 needing to go pee. Naps have been amazing during the day (from 2-3  hours every day), but night is a different story so switching to daddy's night shift life is what we've done and so far it has worked out great. They sleep in the evenings from 7-9, wake up & eat, play for hours and watch a movie/favorite show until about 4-5 am, crash for the morning until about 2 pm then we're up until it's their nap time at 7pm..
They randomly started requesting to sleep together the other night since being in "new" toddler beds (we took the railing off on both sides now) and when we woke up the other morning they had pushed their beds together to be side by side. Much to my surprise they sleep well through the night together, even though they have been in separated since they were just a few months old.

toddler talk

Communication with these two is h i l a r i o u s - they are speaking so much now. When my two year old comes running in my room saying "what you doin mom?" oh...are you two or twenty-two now? They are great with manners - please, thank you, & excuse me" - they call each other by their names now along with "sister" & "sissy" still, of course. They love to tell on the dog if they drop their food and he snatches it... they will come running "mommy doggy take it" usually they give it to him then try to get him in trouble. Kylee has been a sassy little thing here recently, she will hug me and if I ignore her she'll say "hey mom" absolutely hilarious or if I'm doing something she doesn't think I need to be doing she'll get so serious and say "stop it, mom"  while pointing her finger at me..Kaylee is always saying "where's the keys" "see you later, bye" tonight she grabbed a bag full of stuff and said "see ya later" I guess she's moving out at the age of two. I'm loving the daily talks I can have with my little toddlers now. These two drive us bonkers half the time but have us laughing all day long with their silly little personalities and mouth full of words.

toddler play & learning

For the most part they play well together, sometimes we do have to separate the two from an all out cat fight, not kidding. Starting this month their interest has been baby dolls, puzzles, sometimes books, & these little Minnie Mouse/Daisy Duck toys they can dress up. We work on puzzles a lot & they know exactly where they go on the board. Numbers - they can count to 10 alone & to 20 with our help. We haven't worked on ABC's yet, that will be next. We are starting on colors now, I think everything to them is pink due to my nails being pink when we started the learning of the colors. They can sit through a whole movie with me - Finding Nemo & Frozen being their favorite - As far as shows go, they love Bubble Guppies..love it so much that it's their request all day long, Mickey got put on the back burner for now, I guess. Team Umizoomi & Little Einsteins are the other two favorites.

 Toddler Eating
possibly the biggest struggle of our day..breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Trying to decide what they want once we have sat down to eat, if we don't figure it out fast enough it's a total melt down. For Kaylee, if it isn't Fruit, Mac & Cheese, or snacks - you can forget it. Did I mention Mac & Cheese? Anything that is cheese is considered Mac & Cheese in her world & she loves all of it. She could eat any type of cheese for all three meals & not even care about it. She is always requesting milk through out the day, while Kylee is requesting juice. If she even thinks you're getting that milk out for her (although she does like it, but prefers juice" she will say "no mom dont want milk...juice" over and over no matter how many times I repeat myself by saying "You're getting juice, this is for Kaylee" she makes sure I know not to pour milk in that cup of hers. For Kylee, she loves to eat. Seriously, she will eat anything you put in front of her for the most part. Her favorites are fruit of any kind, snacks, chicken nuggets, & pizza. She's not much on bread although Kaylee loves it, she's also not very fond of cheese but of course that's her sisters favorite.

Potty Talk

We are doing amazing at just a month & a half in of Kaylee being potty trained. She has had maybe two accidents since, seriously amazing for a two year old. She comes running several times through out the day to let us know she has to go pee but here recently she's been going in to the bathroom, pulling her pants down, sitting on the BIG potty all by herself, wiping (mommy always comes in to double check to be sure) & then she pulls her pants up all on her own. She is independent as all get out when it comes to going potty! She finally understands that going #2 in the potty doesn't mean "pee" so she comes running screaming "I gotta go poop" seriously the first time she said it, I laughed so hard and at first I was shocked she even said that to me. We never, ever wear anything but undies out in public. I do pull-ups at night only because I'm still afraid although they normally wake up dry. Kylee wakes up wet more than Kaylee. They are doing an awesome job for their age!
