Two year shots // day at the park

2 year shots - am I really saying "two"? When did this happen? Where did my babies go? - my toddlers have grown, that's for sure. Kylee who once was just a itty bitty thing now weighs a bit more than her sister who was bigger at birth, a whopping 27.6 lbs // 35 inches tall. Kaylee, on the other hand - weighs 26.5 lbs // 36 inches tall. They are growing, & growing FAST. They handled shots better than they did the last time back at just a year & a half old. Kylee went first, cried for maybe a whole two minutes & the whole time Kaylee is saying " cry baby ", little did she know she was next. All was well when Dr. Russell mentioned the suckers, "suckaaaas" that was all she wrote. I think I could have cried more when I asked about the next appointment & the lady at the check-out desk looked at me and said "after two years, they only come back once a year"

( before shots)

& after, running straight for the play ground or the ducks - whichever they find first.

a nice lady stopped us to see if we would like a family picture, "heck yeah girlfriend!"
(she obviously doesn't know me to ask such a thing)

 my two greatest blessings, no matter how stressful.

It was a great day even with the two year shots.

Potty Training....round 2.

As most of our family and friends know..we decided to try potty training back when the girls were just 20 months old but even being twins, it doesn't always mean both kids are completely ready at the same time. So, with that being said Kylee was ready & had the basics down in just 3 days. Kaylee, on the other hand, was not quite as ready as her sister yet which shocked her daddy and I both because she has always been our twin to learn things first. With that being said, as of this month she is now potty trained but actually picked up on it a lot quicker than Kylee did. Kylee understood needing to go but struggled with letting us know when she had to go for at least the first couple weeks as to where Kaylee was literally potty trained within 3 days 100%. She hasn't had any accidents, she has been waking up dry soon after poking me saying "mommy wake up, go pa-yay ("potty" in her own little way of pronouncing it). A few have asked us how we got them to understand the basics in just 3 days so I am going to explain exactly what the 3 day method is & just where we got the idea from.

Day 1) They woke up, ate breakfast & stripped down to their princess undies quickly after. They didn't wear diapers anymore after we stripped them down to the undies - except nap time and bed time because I'm not trusting their little bladders just yet. We gave them plenty of juice mixed with water to make them have the urge to go more through out the day. So then it began..... (Kylee at 20 months & then Kaylee at 2) We set a timer for 30 minutes and it literally all just clicked with both of them honestly. They both understood the need to go every 30 minutes, a few accidents happened the first day for sure but we never just threw in the towel and gave up because we knew we wanted to have them potty trained. They were ready, & so were we.

Kylee had way more accidents than Kaylee has had but she was also a lot younger, regardless I am so proud of both of them for being potty trained so early. *currently patting myself on the back*

Day 2) On the second day, for both of them was still accident after accident in the morning but by afternoon/evening it finally clicked when they would have an accident..they would actually come running to either me or JD to let us know what just happened. This day was the day we had way more trips to the potty & actually went in the potty instead of on the floor. We made sure to praise them for going each time with clapping & telling them both how proud we were of them being such big girls which was then followed by a mini starburst. (idea from a fellow twin momma) the girls love mini starburst so it was perfect. They knew if they used the potty instead of the floor, they would receive a piece of candy. (plus eating candy means not falling asleep before brushing, & they L O V E brushing their teeth)

Day 3) As everyone calls it "the magic day" & honestly it really is the magic day. By day 3, we were down to just 1 accident the entire day but soon after they would come running to let us know they just had an accident & we would run to finish up in the potty. For both girls, they took a few days to use the "big pa-yay" as Kaylee calls it. The fear was real - neither were going on that big thing especially considering it doesn't talk quite like elmo does when you flush, it just makes a bunch of scary noises to these little two year olds. Thankfully, because they were potty trained at 2 different times - Kaylee actually started using the big potty today because she saw sister use the big potty (Kylee has now been potty trained for months so all she ever uses is the big potty) I can honestly say I was very nervous of the whole idea of stripping the diapers off to straight undies but my girls proved me wrong and proved the 3 day method to be nothing but the truth.

It doesn't quite get kids fully potty trained, I'm sure Kaylee will still have an accident here & there but I'm beyond proud of this kid because we wore undies to Target today and ended up being stuck on the interstate due to a wreck but had zero accidents. Mommy might just do the potty dance on that note.
Potty training is stressful, trust me. I've potty trained two kids in just a few months apart but it's so worth it once that 3rd day rolls around and they're pulling you to the potty instead of you dragging them away from their toys to go. If your child is ready to be potty trained and showing you signs, go with the 3 day method. Pull ups seem to be a nightmare for most so we decided to skip the pullups (besides our first outing for both girls to make sure we could make it to the potty - which we did..yay) We use undies around the house an out & about now. They are telling us when they need to go which is super convenient when we are out in public. You child will show signs when he/she is ready, both of mine did and neither were ready at the exact same time. Good Luck! :)

Kylee & Kaylee turn two

It’s been one month since these little ladies second birthday
11753746_682570161871128_8038047436206396045_n

& holy cow did it ever fly by and still continues to fly by.
We decided not to go with a character theme this year because we know next year they will be telling us what they want done for their theme.
SO we just went with pink, purple, and a bit of gold.

The girls have changed majorly from last year to this year (pic shown below) but so have we due to the loss of someone very special (JD’s grandmother) who couldn’t be here this year to celebrate, although she wasn’t physically here I know she was looking down on them along with my grandmother by her side.

Two year update;
Kaylee Madison Hayslette.
You have been so full of words lately & this accent you now have that came literally out of no where. “Mickey Mouuuuuse” “Wanna take a baaath” “I’m cuuuuuute” um where in the world did that come from all the sudden? Me and your daddy are always wondering where you even learn half the stuff that comes out of your mouth, you’re too funny for your own good. We never know what you’re going to say next but we always end up cracking up at your cute little words & new sayings.
Your favorite food recently;
hardly anything, seriously. you’re our picky eater, that’s for sure. Hotdogs, Cheese, anything pasta (depending on the day) chicken nuggets, poptarts, pizza, smoothies of any kind, ice cream, cookies, popcorn, any kind of fruit except blueberries & you love anything that has to do with breakfast.. french toast being #1 Still drinking milk by request literally alllll day long. Juice mixed with water the times you’re not asking for milk.
You’re our hard-headed strong willed child, we say no and you say yes or vice versa. you test our patience daily, including your sisters. One of these days she’s going to get brave enough to swing back, maybe
you fight us to do everything on your own, never
wantingneeding help, it’s like you’re 2 going on 20. You finally let me help you brush your teeth recently, it was a fight for the longest time to do it on your own. As for night time, you’re a good sleeper when mommy is by your side but if you wake up to find me in another room, it’s panic mode for you girlfriend. As for the binky, you basically got rid of it yourself (thank goodness) the only time you have one is if you find them laying around the house. It’s like you had a secret stash all this time. You’re still oh so sweet, still my little mini me, still my baby b.
We love you to the moon and back sweet girl never forget it.

Kylee Morgan Hayslette;
YOU are the sweetest, most well behaved child I’ve ever known. you have your moments, trust me.
The attitude is real girlfriend, I promise. Every time you and I butt heads through out the day daddy reminds me of where you get it from, oops. You look like your daddy but act so much like your momma, its unreal. From just a 5lb baby you sure are heavier than your sister now, I’m excited to take you both to the dr this week to see your weight/height. You are my good eater, for sure. Anything I put in front of you, you’ll eat unless sister doesn’t then you try to copy her since that’s your favorite thing to do.
 Your Favorite food recently;
PB&J sandwiches, crackers, any type of fruit, chicken nuggets, potato soup, literally everything, all types of smoothies, still drinking milk, juice with water. You’re far from picky.
As for sleep, you love to sleep, occasionally you’ll wake up crying but you always fall back to sleep.  you take good naps as to where your sister doesn’t usually take any. You still sleep with your monkey, still suck your thumb at night when you’re sleepy.
you’ve changed the most in looks and all around, but still that sweet
innocent Kylee who we love to the moon & back.

You both are as different as night and day, you fight, take things from one another,constant screaming at each other, & always telling on each other for taking a toy. Soon after you’re making up and playing just fine but let me tell you, both of you go all out cat fight 90% of the time. sisterly love.
